While the Instant Pot is still the most visible electric pressure cooker, these days there are a ton of different options available, so you can find the device that fits your kitchen and your budget. We reviewed the best multi-cookers you can buy to bring you this guide.
Best Overall: Mealthy Multipot
The 6 quart Mealthy 9-in-1 multicooker is a fairly new electric pressure cooker/multi-cooker, but it’s become popular very quickly. Mealthy has upped the game on the electric pressure cookers by including an easy-to-use app and additional accessories that most brands make you pay extra for.
This multipot includes: 6-quart stainless steel pot with stainless steel steamer basket and 4cm raised trivet, plus an extra silicone gasket and silicone mitts. It performs 9 functions: Pressure cooking, slow cooking, sauteing, steaming, pasteurizing, cooking rice, warming, and making yogurt and cakes.
The Mealthy also features an intuitive interface, so it’s easy to figure out how to use it. Many electric pressure cookers can be tricky to learn, but the Mealthy includes clear directions and a screen that makes sense, so it’s easy to get cooking without issues.
Best Price: Cosori
The Cosori 6 quart multi-cooker has been one of our favorite small appliances since we tried it out last year. It’s very similar to the Instant Pot yet it has a much more appealing price. It goes on sale frequently for an even better discount.
In our early reviews and testing, I actually found that I preferred the Cosori to the Instant Pot. It’s now something I use occasionally, especially for mashed potatoes and hard boiled eggs and a few other dishes that reduce cooking time and the number of dishes used.
The Cosori is an 8-in-1 electric pressure cooker, and it comes with an extra gasket as well as a few useful accessories. It has numerous smart programs so you can steam or cook at the touch of a button. Read our full review here.
Best Instant Pot: Duo Plus
You can’t go wrong with the beloved brand, and if you’re committed to buying an Instant Pot you probably just want to know which one is best. We like the newest Duo upgrade, the Plus60. It’s a bit more expensive than the Duo (and the other options we’ve discussed here), but it’s a well-designed and useful Instant Pot that has all the bells and whistles you’ll need.
Like other multi-cookers, the Instant Pot does the work of several appliances. The Duo Plus features include: pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, egg cooker, sauté, steamer, warmer, and sterilizer. It also makes cake.
Some of the differences between the Duo Plus and the less expensive Duo aren’t enough to entice shoppers to spend more, but for many, this one can’t be beaten. Some of the upgrades you get with the Plus include lid rest, mute button, a better LCD, and additional presets.
Simplest to Use: Cusinart CPC-600
If you’re just seeking a simple to use, inexpensive electric pressure cooker without the bells and whistles, the Cuisinart offers a perfect option. This is simply an electric pressure cooker that can also brown and simmer. So, it’s not a multi-cooker per se, but it does a lot of the basics and that’s more than enough for some cooks.
The Cuisinart has a nonstick insert, which users may or may not prefer over the standard stainless. It’s fairly inexpensive compared to some of the other brands, though the Cosori we discussed above is cheaper during sales.
Best Multi-Cooker: Ninja 4-in1 Cooking System
Perhaps you’re reading this and realizing you simply want a multi-cooker, not an electric pressure cooker. Some of the appliances called “multi-cookers” offer several cooking options but don’t have the pressure cooker function, like this Ninja multi-cooker. It’s still highly versatile and brings a different skill set to your kitchen.
The Ninja has four cooking functions: stove top, slow cook, oven, and steam. It includes 6 qt. nonstick cooking pot, glass lid, steaming/roasting rack, multi-purpose pan, roast lifters, silicon mitts, cookbook, and a travel bag. Users find this to be an extremely useful small appliance that looks great on the countertop and works fantastic for everyday use or for gatherings.
