It’s time to get excited by T-fal cookware. While the unbeatable price is one thing, T-fal cookware has a couple features that you’re bound to be impressed by.
The T-fal 14-piece cookware set bears some resemblance to Rachel Ray’s enameled set-bearing the same bright colors and aluminum nonstick construction. The Excite set also comes in a couple of different colors, but they have noticeable price differences.
I usually get pretty excited by a company that goes above and beyond just making cookware and invests in your cooking experience. If you head over to T-fal’s website, you’ll see links to recipes, instruction guides, warranty information, and even repair articles. Even before diving into the Excite set, I was thoroughly impressed.
What’s in the Set?
- 1qt saucepan with lid
- 2qt saucepan with lid
- 5qt Dutch oven with lid
- Egg Wonder pan
- 8in fry pan
- 10.25in fry pan with lid
- 4 measuring spoons
Perhaps the most notable feature about the T-fal cookware is the red dot in the center of the skillet, pans, and pots. As it heats up, the T-fal logo will become solid red and the tick marks along the edges will disappear. This will let you know that you’re ready to get cooking.
I can definitely see the benefits of this small but crucial piece of technology. Not everyone uses oil or butter when they cook, and holding your hand near the pieces may not give you an accurate feel for the temperature. With T-fal’s heat sensor, you can get started as soon as you’re able to.
The Egg Wonder Pan that you saw in the list looks like any other sauce pan except the edges are straighter and curved tighter upward. If you’re looking to fry some eggs, this is the pan that’s going to give you the best results. The edges keep the contents contained in the center
I think we’re all used to seeing utensils like spatulas as the final additions to cookware sets. Measuring cups aren’t what I expected but can prove to be valuable in the kitchen. It doesn’t take too much oil or water to ruin a recipe, that’s why I’m always using my own cups.
As you might assume, the cookware is constructed entirely dishwasher-safe aluminum. There have been a couple cases of people’s cookware rusting after only a couple washes, but in that case it would be best to consult the warranty.
I would highly recommend taking a glance at the repair guides on T-fal’s website. While you can’t always bend metal back into its original shape, there’s a few tips and tricks for upkeep that
The handlebars take an inverted approach to their fastening into the cookware. They dip down slightly before becoming bonded to the cookware. This construction allows for a more stable grip regardless of the contents of the pot or pan.
There are occasional situations where the set as arrived detented or deformed, but no widespread problems. One thing to be aware of is that T-fal rates these products as oven safe only up to 350°. I don’t know about you, but 400-500° seems about the range that I’m usually baking at, so I can see why some people might be wary of purchasing this set.
The Excite set should do exactly as its name suggests–excite you. Three or even four sets of this collection would still be cheaper than some of the most expensive cookware out there. For that reason, its the most affordable for small families or households (probably makes the most sense for those on a tight budget).
In terms of quality, the nonstick interior is as good as any other set that brands itself as nonstick. It would be easy to overlook the quality of T-fal because of the stigma of low prices. However, all you need to do is take a look at the multitude of glowing reviews around the web to understand just how popular T-fal is.
