Woll Diamond Plus/Diamond Lite 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

Diamonds are one of the most scratch-resistant materials in the world. Woll has gone above and beyond the cooking call to incorporate diamonds into its cookware.

While your cookware won’t exactly be sparkling and shining like clear cut diamonds, the scratch resistance and durability on the Woll Diamond Lite 10-Piece Set will be second to none. The aluminum is infused with diamond crystals that give it that leading edge in hardness (different than toughness). Hardness refers to an object’s resistance to scratches and bruising.

WOLL’s diamond lite is only one of many categories in their encompassing line of aluminum cookware. They have a large selection of individual cookware items that are diamond infused but complete sets are by far the most enticing.

What’s in the Set?

  • 8-inch Frying Pan
  • 9.5-inch Frying Pan
  • 2.1-quart Sauce Pan plus lid
  • 3.2-quart Sauce Pan plus lid
  • 3.7-quart Sauce Pan(11-inch) plus lid
  • 6.3-quart Stockpot plus lid

This particular set is not applicable for induction stoves, but works great with all other stove types. Hardness doesn’t necessarily translate to heat durability and the cookware is only safe in the oven up to 480°. Considering that nonstick features begin to deteriorate the longer you keep the temperature above 500°, it’s not too much of a loss for you.

With the hardness rating being the best in the cooking world, the Diamond Lite is safe to use with any type of utensil. A small but noticeable feature about each item is the ergonomic handles that provide comfortable use. They are also detachable from the cookware itself should the need arise.

As we mentioned before, the reason the price for this set and WOLL materials, in general, is the diamond coating.  The process to blast diamond crystals into the cookware is complicated. But in end, you get a durable and surprisingly lightweight item despite the different total volumes of the pots and pans.

A similar high-priced cooking set is the Mauviel M’heritage set, which utilizes copper as its primary ingredient. Even then, the M’heritage set is far more expensive than the Diamond Lite. However, the infused diamonds increase the cookware’s overall conductivity. This makes the Diamond Lite products much more friendly to heat changes than copper.

My Take

The prospect of durable materials always appeals to me. WOLL kind of blows the whole definition out of the water with diamond coating. The $400 price range doesn’t seem all too bad, considering some cookware sets approach $700 or more and give or take a couple of items. In any case, it seems like an excellent beginner’s set or for a small household.

You get six primary cookware items to use however you like. In addition to being extremely durable, the aluminum surfaces are nonstick. There are always going to be those occasional opinions that argue that the nonstick doesn’t last. High-heat is usually the main culprit behind nonstick deterioration, so be wary of the temperature of your oven.

On the bright side, the diamond coating conducts high heat well enough to eliminate possible hot spots on the base of the cookware. Should defects occur, Woll has a limited lifetime warranty that can possibly replace your items.
